Its creation
EthiFinance was established on 17 February 2004. It proceeds from the Observatoire
de l’éthique (ODE), association which managed the CSR analysis
activity for the benefit of socially responsible investors between 1997 and
2003. EthiFinance has kept and improved the ODE’s methodology to develop
an efficient tool which helps financial managers when making investment decisions.
EthiFinance associates’ mission is:
“To provide investors with value added information on corporate
governance, social and environmental company performances”.
An innovative structure…
EthiFinance assumes an organizational structure which
perfectly fits its purpose: EthiFinance is a Co-operative Company of Collective
Interest (CCI). This kind of cooperative entity promotes multi-shareownership:
it enables all the stakeholders to enter the capital and in this way to participate
in the life of the company as well as in its management.
According to the cooperative rules, the associates are brought together in
colleges in which the power is allocated on the basis of 1 person = 1 vote.
Each college nominates a representative who sits on the Board of Directors
in which voting rights are shared as follows:
The chairman is François
Pican, member of the Cooperative Businesses College.
Only one stakeholder will not be able to enter EthiFinance capital: the listed
companies, in order to guarantee the absolute independence of its research.
